About The Position

The Department of Public Affairs and Planning in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs (CAPPA) at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) specializing in public policy or a related research area. We seek a candidate with strong research skills, capable of engaging in interdisciplinary work, successfully pursuing external research funding, and publishing in high-quality academic outlets. The candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching policy and public administration courses in support of our degree programs. We welcome applicants with a Ph.D. and research expertise in public policy or a related social science discipline.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in public policy, public administration, public affairs, or other closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree must be awarded by the time of appointment).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in high-quality research related to public policy or a related field.
  • The candidate should have a record of, or demonstrated potential for, successful research and publication.
  • Demonstrated excellence, or clear evidence of potential for excellence, in teaching and mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a productive research program with a strong record of academic output/publication.
  • Pursue external grants and research sponsorships.
  • Develop and teach courses (in person and online) on topics related to public policy and administration, including a course on economic policy.
  • Supervise and mentor doctoral students.
  • Participate in service within the Department, College, University, and broader academic community.
