About The Position

Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology, specializing in Virology. The department seeks candidates to lead research in areas such as Cellular Responses to Virus Infection, Cell Biology of Virus Infection, and Evolution of Emerging Viruses, though other areas of virology will be considered. Preference will be given to scholars with interdisciplinary perspectives who align with current IUB research while also bringing new dimensions to expand and strengthen virology research at IUB. Researchers will have access to state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, bioinformatics, microscopy, flow cytometry, proteomic analysis, physical biochemistry, and crystallography. This is a 10-month appointment, ideally starting August 1, 2027, with a negotiable start date.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree.
• Strong record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the level of appointment.
• Evidence of past and current research productivity through first- or corresponding-author peer-reviewed publications.
• Presentations of research at relevant scientific or professional conferences.
• Other indicators of scholarly impact.
• Strong potential to secure external research funding.
