About The Position

The University of Florida’s School of Architecture (UFSoA) in the College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) invites applications for one faculty position in architectural design and research at the Assistant Professor level to be based at its main campus in Gainesville, Florida. The School of Architecture at UF invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an innovative designer, educator, and researcher with strong research interests who are prepared to thrive within a highly competitive R1 research university with demonstrated expertise in the areas of applied fabrication, materials research, and construction technology. This position coincides with the opening of the Ramos Collaboratory, a new 50,000 sf research lab and education building expanding the College of Design, Construction and Planning. This position supports a strategic initiative to expand the school’s capacity to address the transformative impacts of emerging technologies on architecture and the built environment. We welcome applicants whose research explores fabrication, materials research, and construction technology, including work that engages broader societal considerations such as housing, health, natural disasters, and other emerging challenges.

Requirements

  • Professional or post-professional graduate degree in architecture or related fields.
  • The successful candidate must be able to build effective working relationships and provide support to students, faculty, and staff throughout the campus community.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional license and/or Ph.D. is highly desirable, as is previous design studio teaching, peer-reviewed research (peer-reviewed publications, externally funded research, and other evidence of scholarly production), and/or professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate design studios, as well as seminars or technical courses related to fabrication techniques, construction assemblies, and building materials.
  • Conduct original research and creative practice that contributes to the advancement of applied fabrication, materials research, and construction technology.
  • Engage the new design computation and fabrication facilities in the Ramos Collaboratory building set to open in Spring 2027.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration across the university (e.g., with engineering, computer science, or art/design departments).
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the school’s evolving digital and fabrication facilities.
  • Participate in academic advising, service, and governance within the school and university.
