About The Position

St. John's University, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, Department of Clinical Health Profession is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Physician Assistant faculty member to join the Master of Science in Physician Assistant graduate program. The successful candidate will collaborate with physician assistant colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines, maintain clinical practice competence, remain actively involved in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participate in faculty governance. This role involves recruitment, instruction, evaluation, advisement, committee participation, accreditation activities, clinical site development, and continuous professional development.

Requirements

Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program
Master's degree or higher in a field related to the PA profession
Current NCCPA Certification
Current or eligible New York State licensure
Minimum of three years of experience working in a clinical setting as a Physician Assistant
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook
Unencumbered physician assistant license/certifications

Responsibilities

Recruitment, application review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the program
Coordination and instruction of didactic and clinical year PA students including lecture content, physical diagnosis, and procedural lab instruction
Evaluation of student performance and providing remediation as needed
Student advisement and counseling
Serving as an active member of program, department, and university committees
Contributing to ongoing accreditation activities through program self-assessment/self-study as per ARC-PA and university standards
Participation and development of new clinical site affiliations and performing site visits
Assist the Clinical Coordinator in the development, scheduling, and evaluation of clinical rotations; maintain communication with preceptors and clinical sites; support student clinical placement, documentation, and compliance with ARC-PA standards
Engaging in active service, research, and scholarship
Continuous faculty/professional development
