About The Position

The School of Graduate Studies in the College of Aviation at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a strong preference for candidates with a background and expertise in space operations and autonomous systems. The School of Graduate Studies offers an MS in Aviation with specializations in Aviation Safety, Uncrewed Systems, and Space Operations. It also offers an MS in Occupational Safety Management, an MS in Uncrewed Systems, and an MS in Space Operations in a traditional on-campus format, as well as an online Ph.D. in Aviation with specializations in Aviation Safety, Aviation Human Factors, Aviation Operations, and Intradisciplinary. The candidate will be expected to teach courses at both the doctoral and master's levels and chair Ph.D. dissertation and/or master’s thesis committees. The typical teaching load is 2 to 3 courses per semester. The successful candidate will transition to the role of Program Coordinator for the MS in Space Operations over time. Reporting to the Associate Dean for School of Graduate Studies, the candidate will provide oversight, direction, and guidance to ensure the quality, integrity, and relevance of the program in order to meet the mission and goals of the School, the College, and the University. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is required to meet ongoing scholarly growth requirements, which include publishing scholarly work, actively pursuing and obtaining externally funded research, and presenting work at professional conferences. The candidate will also be expected to fulfill service responsibilities to the university and the profession. This faculty position will be located on the Daytona Beach campus. The candidate is required to provide instruction in both traditional classroom formats and online formats as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Doctorate and relevant experience in space studies and autonomous systems.
