About The Position

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seeks an innovative investigator with expertise in focused ultrasound, neuroscience, neuroengineering, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, molecular biosciences, or a related field. The successful candidate will establish an independent research program and join a collaborative environment focused on developing innovative therapies and technologies for neurological disease. Opportunities exist for collaboration across the Department of Neurosurgery, the Center for Translational Engineering in Medicine (CTEM), the University of Maryland Institute for Neuroengineering and Data Science (UM-MIND), and other interdisciplinary research programs. UM-Neurosurgery seeks to solve complex neurological problems to improve the condition and health of our patients. Requirements

  • PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in focused ultrasound, neuroscience, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, molecular biosciences, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of research productivity and scholarly achievement.
  • Potential to develop a successful extramural funding portfolio.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in translational neuroscience or neurotechnology research.
  • Experience with therapeutic ultrasound, neuromodulation, brain drug delivery, imaging, or related technologies.
  • Experience mentoring students and trainees.
