About The Position

The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time, three-year contractually limited term appointment (CLTA), teaching stream position in the area of Analytical Chemistry. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Chemistry or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching in Analytical Chemistry.
  • Teaching interests that complement and enhance existing departmental strengths.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence and teaching experience in a degree-granting program at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience in lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development activities, and development of online material/lectures.
  • Demonstrated commitment to novel and impactful pedagogical methods.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry (demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, grants, awards, presentations, teaching dossier, and strong reference letters).
  • Teaching dossier including a strong teaching statement, sample course materials, teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities.
  • Evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
  • Submission of a 1-2 page statement of contributions to equity and diversity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coordinating laboratories at the university level.
  • Experience supervising teaching assistants at the university level.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and coordinate analytical chemistry courses at the undergraduate levels, including lecture and laboratory components.
  • Conduct course and curriculum development, including renewal of lecture and laboratory materials.
