About The Position

The Department of World Languages at the University of South Florida invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track position in Spanish Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 7, 2027. Salary is negotiable. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics (Spanish-language focus) or a closely related field by August 7, 2027.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Native or near-native command of Spanish.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Active research agenda.
  • Experience teaching at the university level.

  • Research focus on the Caribbean and/or the Spanish-speaking world in the Western Hemisphere.
  • Demonstrated success in teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, present, and publish research and engage in other professional activities.
  • Teach courses primarily in Spanish for the Spanish program at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Collaborate, when appropriate, with the graduate programs in Applied Linguistics.
  • Participate actively in department, college, and university governance.
