About The Position

Augustana University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching undergraduate Research Methods. A doctoral degree in Psychology or a related field is expected by the start date of Fall 2027. The role involves teaching undergraduate courses, including those related to the candidate's expertise, Research Methods, General Psychology, and First Year Seminar or Senior Seminar. Augustana faculty receive dedicated time for professional development every third January. The university provides lab space and funding for faculty research and conference travel. Undergraduate students are involved in faculty research, with opportunities for those who have taken Research Methods to assist in labs. Faculty serve as academic and career advisors and mentor students in research. The position values mentorship of undergraduate students and an active research program that engages students.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Psychology or a related area by the position start date.
• Passion for excellent undergraduate teaching.
• Ability to teach General Psychology and First Year Seminar or Senior Seminar.
• Ability to teach undergraduate Research Methods.
• Active and productive research program that can engage students.
• Value serving as a mentor for undergraduate students.
• Comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act.
• Satisfactorily complete a pre-employment background check (for finalists).
