About The Position

A.T. Still University's Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is seeking an exempt Assistant Professor Prosthodontics/Advanced Restorative Dentistry on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This role involves teaching, scholarship, service, and patient care to support the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU. The position promotes an atmosphere of respect, collegiality, diversity, social justice, and humanistic learning. Responsibilities include preclinical and clinical supervision in the Simulation Lab and ASDOH clinics, lecturing, and providing patient care. The role also entails participation in committees, faculty governance, professional societies, community events, and continuing education. Scholarship and research activity in the area of expertise are expected, consistent with the scheduled annual workload. The Assistant Professor will provide clinical supervision of predoctoral dental students, focusing on prosthodontics and advanced restorative dentistry, including EHR review and approval. They will enforce clinic policies, including infection control, quality improvement, risk management, and safety. Direct patient care within the scope of general dentistry and applicable specialty disciplines is also a key component, supporting community service, clinic operations, and student education. Instruction in the simulation clinic, collaboration on student performance assessment, and mentoring students are also part of the role. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

DDS/DMD degree and formal training in Prosthodontics from an ADA accredited program.
Must have or be able obtain an Arizona dental license.
3-5 years experience with in patient care providing prosthodontic and advanced and restorative dentistry including CAD/CAM techniques.
Excellent communication and organizational skills; must be self-directed and take initiative; highly skilled in all phases of clinical general dentistry.
Responsible for providing direct clinical patient care as assigned within the scope of general dentistry and applicable specialty discipline, for the benefit of the patients or the school.
A willingness to support and participate in a collegial environment among students, faculty and staff.
Must have a passion for prosthodontics, advanced restorative dentistry, digital dentistry and technology.
Dedication to teaching and advancement of dental education.

Responsibilities

Conduct teaching, scholarship, service and patient care in support of the mission and goals of ASDOH and ATSU.
Promote an atmosphere of respect, collegiality, commitment to diversity and social justice, and humanistic learning environment.
Preclinical and clinical supervision as a dentist in the Simulation Lab and ASDOH clinics; effectively carry out lecture, seminar, preclinical and clinical assignments as assigned in restorative dentistry with a focus on prosthodontic and advanced restorative techniques.
Participate in committees, faculty governance, professional societies and associations, community events, and provision of CE.
Provide direct patient care in ASDOH Clinics that supports community service, efficient clinic operations, student/resident education, or when in the best interest of the patient.
Establish and maintain scholarly and/or research activity in area of expertise, at level consistent with scheduled annual workload.
Provide clinical supervision of predoctoral dental students in patient care activities within the scope of general dentistry with a focus on prosthodontics and advanced restorative dentistry.
Complete documentation on student performance and progress towards competency; review and approve EHR.
Enforce clinic policy including infection control, quality improvement, risk management, record keeping, etc & assure safety.
Provide direct patient care in the scope of general dentistry and applicable specialty discipline(s) that supports the school and programs including but not limited to the purposes of community service, efficient clinic operations, student education, or when in the best interest of the patient (e.g: treatment is too complex for assigned student provider).
Instruct students in the simulation clinic as assigned; collaborate with Course Director on assessment of student performance.
Effectively carry out lecture, seminar and clinical assignments and responsibilities as assigned, including appropriate student assessment.
Be readily available to students for mentoring and consultation.
Other duties as assigned.
