About The Position

The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, scholarship, and service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of the respective department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. Works on statistics and research design issues across the three departments of the School of Behavior Health. Performs other duties as needed. The DMFT Faculty member contributes to doctoral education through teaching, research, mentoring, and service. Faculty support the academic and professional development of doctoral students and participate in program, department, and university activities.

Requirements

  • An earned doctoral degree in one of the recognized behavioral health professions
  • Experience teaching multiple levels of statistics
  • Experience conducting data analysis
  • Experience with statistical software
  • Teaching experience can be met by post doctorate teaching assignments
  • Teaching assistantship experiences will be considered if there is evidence that the assignment included primary responsibility over classroom instruction
  • Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in both classroom and online teaching and presentations
  • Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner
  • Able to write legibly
  • Able to speak in English with professional quality
  • Able to use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner
  • Able to communicate effectively on the telephone
  • Able to think critically
  • Able to manage multiple assignments effectively
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary
  • Able to hear sufficiently for general conversation in person, on the telephone, in online synchronous and asynchronous teaching, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace
  • Able to see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position
  • Professional certification, licensure or registration as appropriate
  • Earned Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy (DMFT) degree
  • Current clinical licensure as an LMFT or LPCC (or license eligible)

Nice To Haves

  • Earned Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy (DMFT) degree preferred
  • Teaching experience or mentoring at the graduate or doctoral level preferred
