About The Position

Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, with some variation by academic unit. Provides academic and clinical instruction within the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and facilitates classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical learning experiences for students. Maintains academic standards established by the school and the university. Teaches and evaluates students in the clinical, laboratory, simulation, and classroom settings. Assumes responsibility for and participates in the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of assigned courses. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of school, program, course, and student learning activities. Integrates current evidence, emerging knowledge, and innovative teaching strategies into clinical, laboratory, simulation, and classroom instruction. Engages in ongoing professional development through continuing education, workshops, conferences, and other scholarly activities. Participates in school, university, and professional committees. Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties. Engages in advancement of nursing science and education through research and/or scholarship. Adheres to institutional policies and procedures, and accreditation standards. Contributes to the community through academically related public service complementary to the institutional mission. Upholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El Paso. Performs other duties, as required.

Requirements

• M.S.N. Degree with area of concentration or certification in the relevant area of teaching, or an M.S.N. Degree in nursing education
• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or a compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
• Minimum of Two (2) years of undergraduate teaching experience in an accredited college or university in a nationally accredited nursing program

Nice To Haves

• D.N.P. or Ph.D. in Nursing
• Expertise in medical-surgical nursing with adult populations
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in curriculum development, instructional design, program implementation and evaluation
• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and research productivity
• Demonstrated service on academic or workforce committee/task forces
• Demonstrated participation as a member of a professional nursing organization, including service in an elected or appointed office

• Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
