About The Position

The Department of Surgery's Division of Transplant Surgery at the University of Virginia, School of Medicine, is seeking applicants for a full-time position of Assistant Professor of Surgery in Charlottesville, Virginia. The duties are as follows: Provide patient care and clinical teaching, including performing liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation, inpatient and ambulatory care for pre-and post-transplant patients; as well as providing surgical care in general surgery cases on transplant recipients or non-transplant patients requiring the expertise of a transplant surgeon. There is also an expectation to share the transplant and deceased donor procurement call schedule, which includes travel to outlying hospitals for multi-organ recoveries and safe transportation of organs to UVA.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent
• Currently have or be eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Meet UNOS requirements for primary living donor surgeon in kidney and liver donation
• Independent in laparoscopic and/or robotic assisted living donor nephrectomy
• Expertise in laparoscopic, robotic-assisted kidney, and pancreas transplantation
• Successful background screening
