About The Position

This is a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor position within the Department of Social Work, College of Social Sciences and Education at California State University, Bakersfield. The academic year for this position is 2027-2028, with an available start date of Fall 2027. The role involves the ongoing development and teaching of graduate-level MSW courses at both the foundation and concentration levels, utilizing creative, innovative, and technology-enhanced teaching methods. Additionally, the position requires service to the Department, School, University, and the larger community, as well as the establishment of ongoing scholarly activity in a focused area of research.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching graduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.
  • MSW from a CSWE accredited program.
  • Earned doctorate in social work or related field. Applicants nearing completion of a doctoral degree may be considered; however, employment is contingent upon submission of evidence of degree completion by August 1, 2027.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level or undergraduate level.
  • Minimum two years of post MSW practice experience required for teaching practice courses.
