Associate Professor, School of Social Work
About The Position
Dominican University seeks an Associate Professor for a renewable, full-time position in the Borra College of Health Sciences within the College of Applied Social Sciences. As a Hispanic Serving Institution, the university emphasizes access, belonging, and equity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective engagement in a diverse environment and a commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching, research, and governance. The university is particularly interested in faculty with a practice and/or research focus in Military Social Work, Gerontology, School Social Work, or historically excluded/minoritized communities.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field, or completion within one year
- Experience and commitment to teaching excellence
- Experience and commitment to development regarding inclusive, critical, active pedagogical approaches
- Commitment to working with first-generation, immigrant, and/or underrepresented/historically excluded students
Nice To Haves
- Publication experience
- Experience and/or interest in developing community-based collaborations
- Demonstrated experience teaching or creating, organizing and/or leading programs for minoritized student populations
- Mentorship experience with Latinx and Black students
- Training or experience in culturally responsive teaching
