About The Position

The University of Northern Iowa’s (UNI) Department of Social Work seeks applications for a three-year term Clinical Assistant Professor position, starting in August 2027. The appointment may be extended after the initial three-year term. There is an additional opportunity for the successful candidate to begin in June 2027 to teach an MSW advanced practice course within the candidate’s area of expertise. UNI is a comprehensive institution known for its high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs. We seek a dedicated practitioner-educator committed to excellence in teaching and service.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • At least two full years of post-MSW practice experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teaching effectiveness.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Social Work License.
  • Specific expertise or practice experience in mental health and/or addictions.
  • Demonstrated experience in post-secondary education teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a 4x4 teaching load (four courses per semester) at both the BSW and MSW levels.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction across multiple modalities, including online, in-person, and hybrid formats.
  • Participate in departmental, university, and community service activities.
  • Student advising.
  • Committee work.
  • Supporting the mission of the Social Work department.
  • Potential for additional 1/9th salary per class for summer teaching assignments based on departmental needs.
