Requirements

  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited School of Social Work.
  • Doctoral degree in Social Work or a closely related field (ABD considered).
  • Computer literacy and practical knowledge of current technology.
  • Strong commitment to effective teaching.
  • Ability to teach introductory and advanced-level classes.
  • Knowledge of social work history, theory, and practice concepts.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two (2) years of social work practice experience.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education with the ability to teach across the curriculum.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • LMSW or LCSW (or LCSW eligible if not currently licensed in Arkansas).

Responsibilities

  • Teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate social work programs.
  • Advises BSW and MSW students.
  • Maintains an active agenda of scholarship and or research, which includes social work-based research/training projects and ongoing scholarly publications.
  • Participates in community service at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Grant-funded research is encouraged and supported by the university.
  • Teach BSW and/or MSW classes each semester.
  • Provide service to the School.
  • Keep course content timely and in line with accreditation standards.
  • Engage in scholarship sufficient to meet requirements for promotion, tenure, or other advancements, as appropriate for the rank.
  • Engage in service at the university, community, and professional levels sufficient to meet requirements for promotion, tenure, or other advancements, as appropriate for the rank.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the designated program(s).
  • Monitor student progress through the program(s) and adjust degree plans as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
