About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Public Administration to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas. The university is dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and public service, with a strong focus on student success and research excellence. This is a tenure-track position. The primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Public Administration and Political Science, conducting research, and contributing to the governance of the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program. The role also involves serving on various committees at the departmental, college, university, and professional levels, as well as mentoring students. This position requires regular on-campus presence and face-to-face interactions. The Master of Public Administration program is part of the Department of Social Sciences within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD in Public Administration or a related field (ABD candidates will be considered if degree is earned before August 16, 2027)
  • Primary research and teaching interests in program evaluation and public policy
  • Ability to teach courses in research methods
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to publish in top scholarly journals
  • Potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding
