About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Public Administration to begin Fall 2027. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, with over 8,000 students. The university is dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and public service, with a strong focus on student success and research excellence. This is a tenure-track position. The primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Public Administration and Political Science, conducting research, and contributing to the governance of the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program. The role also involves serving on various committees at the departmental, college, university, and professional levels, as well as mentoring students. This position requires regular on-campus presence and face-to-face interactions.

Requirements

• PhD in Public Administration or a related field (ABD candidates considered if degree earned before August 16, 2027)
• Primary research and teaching interests in program evaluation and public policy
• Ability to teach courses in research methods
• Strong research skills
• Strong teaching skills
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or the potential to publish in top scholarly journals
• Potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding
