About The Position

Chaminade University of Honolulu is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology (Non-Tenure) for its School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. This is a full-time, 9-month exempt position. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, actively participating in curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and student-related activities such as maintaining regular office hours. The university's mission is to provide students with a collaborative learning environment that prepares them for life, service, and successful careers, guided by its Catholic, Marianist, and liberal arts traditions.

Requirements

• A doctoral degree in School Psychology, Education, Psychology, or a related field. If doctoral degree is not in School Psychology then an EdS or MA/MS degree in School Psychology with a related doctoral degree.
• Must possess high integrity and ethical standards.
• Must have the ability to create and facilitate a meaningful learning environment.
• Demonstrate a willingness to teach a variety of psychology and counseling psychology courses in a diverse educational setting.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced skills in the use of computer software applications (i.e., Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, & SPSS) and learning management systems (i.e., Canvas) and the internet.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to interpret data and prepare reports.
• Knowledge and experience in using common office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.
• An expressed willingness to respect and support the Catholic and Marianist identity of Chaminade University of Honolulu and to perform all duties in a manner consistent with Marianist educational values and mission of the University.
• Understanding of and respect for the University’s designation as an institution that serves students of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island ancestry.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of Higher Education level teaching.
• National Certified School Psychologist.
• 1 year experience conducting cognitive, behavioral, and achievement tests in an educational or clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Teach 21 credit hours per academic year (undergraduate and graduate courses)
• Provide comprehensive academic advising
• Actively participate in University, School, and Department committees
• Actively participate in the accreditation process
• Actively participate in program assessment, curriculum development, and grant writing
• Actively develop scholarship (e.g., publications, conference presentations)
• Attend meetings and provide service as required for the program, school, university and community committees and work groups
• Observes all safety and health regulations and works in accordance with safe work procedures and policies of the University. Reports unsafe acts/conditions and injuries in a timely and proper manner.
