About The Position

Wesleyan University's Physics Department is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics to begin on July 1, 2027. The position is open to candidates with promise in developing an independent, funded research program in quantum physics or the development and application of AI methods to physics, involving both graduate and undergraduate students. Areas of interest include photonics, quantum information, quantum sensing, quantum optics, quantum materials, AI-enabled materials discovery and optimization, physical computing, and AI-driven solutions for physics applications. Candidates should consider potential research synergies within the department and across the university. The role requires a commitment to modern physics teaching pedagogy at all levels. Wesleyan offers a PhD-granting department within a leading liberal arts university, with institutional support including start-up funds, renovated lab space, and graduate research assistants. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field in hand by the time of appointment
