About The Position

Requirements

Earned doctoral degree in music.
Minimum five years professional performance experience.
Demonstrated success teaching at the college/university level.
Proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding students.
Artist-level performer of solo and chamber repertoire.

Nice To Haves

An established record of professional percussion performance experience.
Professional experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral musician.
Performance expertise including non-Western styles and percussion instruments.
Experience and enthusiasm for commissioning/premiering/recording new works for percussion.

Responsibilities

Recruit, retain, and teach an outstanding enrollment of undergraduate and graduate percussion students.
Supervise graduate-degree requirements, including graduate committees and doctoral projects/documents.
Coach percussion ensembles, percussion techniques, percussion pedagogy and literature classes.
Establish and maintain a national/international profile as a performing artist (soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, etc.).
Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession.
