About The Position

The Department of Nursing at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) is seeking to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position starting in Fall 2026. This role primarily focuses on teaching Health Assessment, Evidence-Based Practice, and Foundations, but may include other courses like Senior Practicum, Ethics, Leadership, or other clinical courses based on departmental needs and the candidate's expertise. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality teaching, student engagement, and curriculum development, aligning with the department's mission. Responsibilities include teaching 24 credit hours per academic year across various formats (classroom, clinical, lab, hybrid, online), engaging in scholarly activities, and providing service to the department, university, and community. MSU Denver offers a comprehensive mentoring program for tenure-track faculty, including the Roadrunner Faculty Academy in the first year to support new faculty in teaching, scholarly activity, and service.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing from a nationally accredited nursing education program.
  • Valid unencumbered RN license to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain by hiring date in August 2026.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience in professional nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching 24 credits of upper-division undergraduate nursing courses.
  • Planning and delivering theoretical instruction and clinical experiences.
  • Using a variety of instructional modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Designing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum.
  • Conducting student assessments and evaluating academic achievement.
  • Participating in curriculum and policy development and evaluation.
  • Orienting, mentoring, and monitoring clinical faculty and preceptors.
  • Providing academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Supporting student retention and success.
  • Promoting inclusivity and responding to the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Participating in department, college, university, and community service, including serving on committees.
  • Engaging in scholarly activity and professional development per the tenure track process.
