About The Position

The Department of Marketing in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Marketing position beginning August 2027. We are a collaborative, student-centered, industry-connected, experientially driven, and forward-looking department committed to preparing students for successful careers in a rapidly changing marketing profession. The successful candidate will join the department at an exciting point in its development. We are strengthening our curriculum, expanding applied learning and industry engagement, and creating more intentional connections across the student experience. The candidate will contribute their own expertise and ideas while working with others to help shape what comes next. We value faculty interested in connecting classroom learning with meaningful applied and immersive experiences that help students develop the knowledge, skills, judgment, and professional readiness needed to succeed. We are seeking a candidate who is excited to contribute through excellent teaching, meaningful scholarship, collaborative engagement, and a genuine investment in the continued growth of our students, programs, and department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to helping students navigate emerging developments in marketing, including evolving technologies, digital platforms, data-informed decision making, and other innovations shaping the profession. Candidates with an interest and ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses, particularly in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: digital marketing, marketing research, consumer behavior, and marketing analytics. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Marketing or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Candidates with ABD will be considered and must demonstrate satisfactory progress toward completion of the doctoral degree consistent with university policy.
  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality scholarly research.
  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, effective university-level teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 9 semester credit hours of undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses, with assignments based on departmental needs and the faculty member's expertise.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in face-to-face and online environments.
  • Develop engaging learning experiences that connect theory and practice through applied, immersive, and industry-engaged learning opportunities, when appropriate.
  • Maintain an active and productive program of scholarly research that demonstrates the potential for sustained scholarly achievement consistent with departmental, college, and AACSB expectations for tenure and promotion.
  • Disseminate research through quality peer-reviewed publications, academic conferences, and other appropriate scholarly outlets.
  • Contribute to a collaborative research culture through scholarly engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and when appropriate, the involvement and mentorship of students in research activities.
  • Contribute meaningful service to the department, college, university, profession, and broader community.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives that advance student success, curriculum innovation, industry engagement, and the department’s shared priorities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, students, alumni, and external partners to strengthen the department and enhance the student experience.
