The Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in marine/coastal remote sensing. Candidates should have an academic background in oceanography and focus on using satellite remote sensing to study ocean and coastal dynamics and processes, including climate change impacts on marine, coastal, and wetland systems using active microwave and passive optical sensors. The successful candidate will develop an externally funded research program, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in support of the department’s coastal science program. The position is part of a four-faculty multi-position hire within the department, with an expected start in Fall 2027. The department has biological, physical, chemical, geological, fisheries, meteorology, and wetland biogeochemistry programs spanning continental shelf, coastal, estuarine, and wetland environments. It offers MS and PhD degrees and contributes to undergraduate degrees in Coastal Environmental Science and Coastal Meteorology. Faculty have access to research laboratories, supercomputing resources, field support services, and a shared marine laboratory at the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium.
