About The Position

The University of Northern Iowa's School of Music seeks applications for a two-year term Assistant Professor of Instruction in Applied Violin, starting in August 2026. After the conclusion of the two-year term, the position may be considered for renewal. Responsibilities include providing individual instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in violin performance as well as provide instruction in orchestra repertory, string techniques, string literature, string pedagogy, and/or music education depending on qualifications and department need. This position will also take an active role within the department’s student recruitment activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in violin music performance or closely related field
  • at least two years of experience as a studio teacher at the collegiate level required

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in violin music performance or closely related field
  • at least three years of successful college-level teaching of applied violin lessons
  • demonstrated excellence in violin performance
  • evidence of understanding a broad range of performance styles including a strong profile as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral performer preferred

Responsibilities
