About The Position

The College of Sciences and Humanities at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in forensic science. Preference will be given to individuals with practical experience in forensic science. The successful applicant will be housed in a department commiserate with the candidate’s expertise. A Ph.D. in forensic science, biology, chemistry, or forensic psychology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment. Employer will consider sponsorship.

Requirements

• An earned Doctorate degree appropriate for a forensic science program, preferably in biology, chemistry, or a related field by time of appointment.
• Research experience in a forensic science discipline or in methods and techniques adapted, supported, and employed by the forensic science community.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• The ability to establish effective collaborative relationships with a varied range of internal and external populations.
• Record of successful teaching in a college/university environment.
• Established scholarship record in forensic science, biology, chemistry, or forensic psychology.
• Practical experience in forensic science.

Responsibilities

• Teaching responsibilities comprise introductory and advanced courses in forensic science and/or courses in content areas that contribute to the forensic science program.
• Other teaching could include undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the home department.
• Develop and maintain an independent and active research program.
• Mentor student researchers.
• Provide service to the profession, university, and program.
