About The Position

Marian University seeks an Assistant Professor of Finance to join a diverse community of faculty and staff. This role is dedicated to providing excellent teaching and learning within the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions, actively engaging the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of the university. The position involves a full-time faculty role in the School of Business, requiring a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include student advising, curriculum development, committee membership, and ongoing professional development. The position emphasizes an experiential and integrative approach to undergraduate business education, requiring the ability to manage student teams, foster classroom engagement with external professionals, link expertise to other business areas, help students develop key skills, facilitate and mentor students, assist with career plans, and connect students with internship and employment opportunities.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Finance.
  • Experience teaching a variety of courses in Finance.
  • Ability to collaborate with other instructors and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester at the undergraduate level during the 9-month academic year.
  • Provide student advising, with occasional summer advising expected.
  • Engage in regular curriculum development/enhancement activities.
  • Serve as a member on university and departmental committees.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Manage student-led teams.
  • Create and foster classroom engagements between students and external business professionals.
  • Link area of expertise to other areas of business.
  • Help students develop key skills related to communications, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Facilitate, mentor, and coach students.
  • Assist students in developing career plans.
  • Connect students with internship and employment opportunities.
  • Adhere to Marian University's policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor about Department issues.
  • Meet department productivity standards.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assist in establishing department measurements that align and support the accomplishment of the University's strategic goals.
  • Adhere to the department budget.
  • Manage absence from work in a responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers.
  • Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seek clarification of them when necessary.
