About The Position

The Department of Computing Technology in the School of Computer Science and Mathematics at Marist University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computing Technology, with a focus on cybersecurity and IT infrastructure, at the Assistant Professor rank to begin in the Fall of 2027. The ideal candidate should have experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: software development, systems analysis and design, data communications and networking, cybersecurity, database systems and information management, distributed computing, cloud computing, and IT infrastructure. Candidates should also be prepared to incorporate relevant AI concepts and tools into their teaching, as appropriate. Evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly work is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Industry and/or consulting experience is highly desirable. Evidence of the ability to work effectively in diverse environments is highly regarded.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field. ABDs in an appropriate field who will complete their dissertation within one year of hire will be considered.
  • Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: software development, systems analysis and design, data communications and networking, cybersecurity, database systems and information management, distributed computing, cloud computing, and IT infrastructure.
  • Preparedness to incorporate relevant AI concepts and tools into teaching.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and scholarly work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry and/or consulting experience.
  • Candidates working in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure, including, but not limited to, network and systems security, cloud security, secure computing infrastructure, cyber operations, and enterprise computing.
  • Candidates with interdisciplinary or applied research programs in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure.
  • Candidates who can contribute to a broad computing curriculum.
  • Candidates with a robust track record of publications and/or the potential to develop a strong research agenda.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in multiple areas, with teaching and research interests in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure.
  • Teach broadly in areas such as software development, systems analysis and design, data communications and networking, cybersecurity, database systems and information management, distributed computing, cloud computing, and information technology management.
  • Learn about and engage with the discipline of quantum computing as departmental needs and opportunities evolve.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both traditional in-person and online environments.
  • Engage in University and professional activities such as advising/mentoring students, and serving on department, school, or University committees.
