About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders to commence employment in Fall 2027. TAMIU, a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students, is situated in Laredo, Texas. The university is dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and a strong focus on student success and research excellence. This is a 9-month tenure-track position within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, which is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and community engagement.

Requirements

• Hold a doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field from a regionally accredited institution (ABDs will be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment)
• Demonstrate potential for teaching
• Demonstrate potential for peer-reviewed scholarship
• Demonstrate potential for external funding
• Demonstrate potential for supporting first-generation students
• Hold or be eligible for Texas SLP licensure and/or ASHA CCC-SLP certification

Responsibilities

• Teaching assigned courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders program
• Evaluating students’ progress in coursework
• Completing the administrative aspects of assigned courses
• Supervising field-based students or student internship when needed
• Demonstrating scholarly productivity through publications in referred journals and attendance at professional conferences and meetings
• Assisting in the development of a Master's program
• Providing service to the department, college and university
