About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking faculty members as the department expands. Generalists should be comfortable performing a wide range of cases, including orthopedics, gynecology, community obstetrics, abdominal cases, general vascular procedures, and kidney transplants. Generalists are not required to perform cardiac cases or treat children under two years old. Limited regional anesthesia skills and the ability to anesthetize older children are helpful. The position includes supervising residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs, while also being prepared to perform cases independently when required. Faculty participate in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, departmental conferences, and faculty meetings. Call is expected to be three to four overnight calls per month, some of which may be from home; evening and weekend calls may also be needed. Effort distribution may change according to departmental needs, the candidate’s interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding. Compensation depends on years of experience and the professorial rank determined at hiring.
