About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeking faculty candidates. Generalists should be comfortable performing cases in orthopedics, gynecology, community obstetrics, abdominal surgery, general vascular surgery, and kidney transplants. They are not required to perform cardiac cases or treat children younger than two years old. Limited regional anesthesia skills and the ability to anesthetize older children are helpful. Faculty should be comfortable supervising residents, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs), and performing cases independently when required. The position also includes teaching and mentoring trainees and participating in departmental conferences and faculty meetings. Call is expected to be three to four overnight calls per month, some of which may be from home; evening and weekend call may also be needed. Effort distribution may change based on departmental needs, the candidate’s interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding. Compensation depends on years of experience and professorial rank at hiring.
