Clinical Assistant Professor/Assistant Professor of Pharmacy

University of Louisiana Monroe•La, LA

About The Position

The position is in Pharmacy Practice and may be non-tenure-track or tenure-track. Responsibilities span teaching, service, and scholarship. Non-tenure-track faculty primarily focus on teaching and service, with generally lower scholarship expectations. Tenure-track faculty are expected to develop a substantial program of scholarship capable of withstanding review by faculty at peer institutions and to pursue scholarly activities and extramural funding. Teaching accounts for 40–60% of a non-tenure-track position or 30–50% of a tenure-track position. Faculty may provide 20–40 didactic lectures and teach six to eight months per year in the Advanced Practice Experience Program. Lectures may be delivered on campus or through distance learning technology. Specific duties are assigned at the discretion of the Department Head. Service accounts for 40–60% of a non-tenure-track position or 20–40% of a tenure-track position. It includes providing pharmaceutical care to a defined patient population, documenting services and their financial impact, and, when appropriate, seeking reimbursement. Faculty may also serve on affiliated-institution and university committees, participate in professional organizations and community service, and attend graduation ceremonies when assigned. Scholarship accounts for 5–10% of a non-tenure-track position or 20–50% of a tenure-track position. Activities may include presentations and publications, reviewing manuscripts or books, pursuing grant funding, developing educational or research programming, and documenting the quality and usefulness of pharmaceutical care services or new care models. Tenure-track faculty are expected to actively pursue extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications. Applicants should have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy, or equivalent, with residency and/or fellowship training; candidates with equivalent practice experience will also be considered. Eligibility for Louisiana state pharmacy licensure is required. Board certification in a pharmacy care specialty is strongly desired. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and dedication to student-centered education and lifelong learning. Applicants must submit a CV and letter of intent with their application.
