The Department of Classics at St. Olaf College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Classics to begin in August 2027. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher-scholar, enthusiastic about working closely with students both on and off campus, and willing to participate actively in departmental and college-wide activities. St. Olaf College is particularly interested in applicants who can contribute to its goals for diversity, equity, and inclusion. While the area of specialization is open, expertise in classical languages and literature is essential. The position involves teaching Greek and Latin language courses at all levels, classical civilization courses, and January-term courses, potentially including those taught abroad in Greece or Italy. Contributions to interdisciplinary programs such as Enduring Questions, Environmental Studies, or Film Studies are also welcomed.
