Aquinas College is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning Fall 2027. The position teaches 24 contact hours per academic year, with primary teaching responsibilities in analytical and physical chemistry, including laboratories. Additional assignments may include general chemistry and other courses suited to the candidate’s background and departmental needs. The ability to contribute through teaching and undergraduate research to the interdisciplinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) or Chemical Physics programs is desirable. The professor will advise undergraduate students, contribute to departmental and college efforts to recruit and retain students, and develop and maintain a research and scholarship program appropriate to an undergraduate institution that involves undergraduate students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field; ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate experience with chemical instrumentation, potential for effective undergraduate teaching, and the ability to develop an undergraduate-involving research program. Applications should include a cover letter addressing preparation to teach analytical and physical chemistry, a curriculum vitae, a teaching philosophy statement, a statement addressing the College’s mission, a statement of research interests and plans for scholarship at an undergraduate institution, and contact information for three professional references. Letters of recommendation will be requested from candidates selected for an interview. Applications received by December 14 will receive full consideration; the position remains open until filled.
