About The Position

Transylvania University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position in Chemistry, beginning August 25, 2027. The chemistry program, with an emphasis on laboratory experiences, prepares students for a wide range of careers including biochemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science, materials science, medicine and other health care areas. Students learn to become skilled problem solvers and develop a strong foundation in all areas of chemistry. The program also supports students from a wide range of other programs, such as biology, neuroscience, and health and exercise science. Requirements

• Ph.D. by the start date.
• Expertise in Biochemistry or Bioorganic Chemistry.
• A commitment to teaching.
• Value interdisciplinary dialogue.
• Work collaboratively with other faculty.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching the two-semester sequence of Organic Chemistry.

Responsibilities

• Teach (1) Biochemistry course, currently offered each regular term, and (2) the two-semester sequence of either Organic Chemistry (preferred) or General Chemistry.
• Occasional contributions to First-Year programming and service as an academic adviser.
• Academic scholarship/professional activity, preferably involving undergraduate students.
• Service to the university through various committee appointments.
