About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites applications for a standard nine-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to start August 2027 in the broadly defined area of computation, modeling, simulation, and theory. Of particular interest are candidates with research interests in computational materials chemistry. The successful candidate will establish an independent, externally funded research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. The Department has expertise in solid state materials synthesis and characterization, notably in systems relevant to electrocatalysis, photochemistry, and energy conversion. This search invites candidates who could complement these strengths by adding computational materials chemistry expertise. The successful candidate will develop a research program that contributes both to ongoing work in the department and develops an independent research program. The development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools in research are also of interest. This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
