About The Position

Concordia College invites applications from candidates with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences for a full-time, tenure-track position in the Biology Department beginning August 2027. We seek a broadly trained biologist whose expertise and teaching interests complement our undergraduate liberal arts program. The successful candidate will contribute to our introductory biology curriculum (evolution & diversity, ecology), develop and teach upper-level courses in their area of expertise, and mentor undergraduate students in research and independent projects. We welcome applicants who use field-based, laboratory, computational, or integrative approaches and who are eager to collaborate across disciplines. Concordia College is dedicated to excellence in undergraduate education. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for outstanding teaching and for developing an active research program with undergraduates. Undergraduates typically present their research at regional and national meetings and are encouraged to publish their results in professional journals. In addition to teaching and research, Biology faculty engage in departmental service and serve on department- and college-wide committees. Faculty are committed to student success and advise students formally and informally throughout the year on course selection and post-graduation career decisions. The Biology Department includes eleven full-time faculty and two support staff members committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate education. Biology is the largest liberal arts major on campus, with approximately 50 majors graduating each year. Concordia College is a private liberal arts college of approximately 2,000 undergraduate students located in Moorhead, Minnesota, part of the vibrant Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan community of approximately 250,000 people. Requirements

• Ph.D. in the biological sciences
• Demonstrated potential for outstanding undergraduate teaching
• Demonstrated potential for developing an active research program with undergraduate students
• Expertise and teaching interests that complement Concordia's undergraduate liberal arts Biology program
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to contribute to instruction in geographic information systems (GIS)
• Expertise and teaching interests in entomology, insect–plant interactions, or related areas
• Candidates with interests or expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology, ecology (including molecular ecology), evolution, environmental biology, organismal biology, environmental science, or other complementary fields are encouraged to apply.
