About The Position

Requirements

  • PhD in Biology, Environmental Science, or closely related discipline from an accredited college of university required.
  • Evidence of potential for successful teaching at the college level required.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work with and assist part-time instructors.
  • An eagerness to engage with colleagues, staff and administrators to develop ways to improve the educational experience for our students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with geospatial technology or conservation and resource management preferred.
  • Professional background in laboratory management, laboratory research, etc. preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits of lower division lecture and laboratory courses each academic year, including upper division courses in applicant’s area of expertise as well as introductory and general education courses.
  • Collaborate with other full-time faculty on curriculum development of both lab and lecture courses to ensure similar learning core themes, and assist/mentor part-time instructors as needed.
  • Coordinate select lab courses, including overseeing lab set-up and take down, ordering of supplies, and supervision of lab instructors.
  • Attend department, division, and college faculty meetings.
  • Work with other faculty in program management.
  • Adhere to university policies.
  • Involve undergraduate students in research and experiential-learning projects in applicant's area of expertise, as time permits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
