About The Position
Young Harris College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology beginning August 1, 2027. The successful applicant must be willing to teach courses in general biology for science majors and non-science majors, upper-level courses (e.g., botany), and other courses related to their specialty. Although Young Harris College is primarily a teaching institution, the candidate should also have a strong interest in research and the capability to direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences. Young Harris College is a private baccalaureate and master's-degree-granting institution located in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. Founded in 1886 and historically affiliated with The United Methodist Church, Young Harris College educates, inspires, and empowers students through an education that purposefully integrates the liberal arts and professional studies. Approximately 1,400 students are enrolled in its residential and Early College programs.
Requirements
- Possess (or be near completion of) a Ph.D. in a biological discipline related to botany.
- Strong interest in research.
- Capability to direct undergraduate students in guided research experiences.
- Successfully pass a background check.
