About The Position

The Department of Biology at Montclair State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Biomedical Science. We seek an outstanding scholar and educator who will establish an innovative, externally funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, demonstrate excellence in teaching across the biology curriculum, and contribute to the department's strong tradition of collegiality, service, and student success. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative department within a growing R2 institution committed to inclusive excellence, interdisciplinary research, and innovation in science education. Teaching could include courses in introductory cell and molecular biology, advanced molecular biology, genetics, or courses in other areas developed by the successful candidate. These courses will support graduate and undergraduate students in the biology degree program tracks. All research areas in cell and molecular biology will be considered, with a preferred emphasis on biomedical research using both standard and innovative organismal models. We seek candidates who are interdisciplinary, collaborative, and student-centric. As a Biology Department that integrates the work of ecology, physiology, and cell/molecular researchers, we welcome multidisciplinary research approaches. The involvement of undergraduate and graduate students in research is a priority, including a mentoring approach providing fundamental training in the process of science. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the University's mission through excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in molecular biology, cell biology, or a related biomedical field.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, as evidenced by peer/student evaluations and/or other materials, particularly in appropriate specialty and introductory-level biology courses.
A track record of recent research publications.
A history of successful grant activity.
