Assistant Professor of Arabic- Tenure Track
About The Position
This full-time, in-person position at the Virginia Military Institute includes the responsibilities of teaching all levels of Arabic (3-3), scholarship, professional citizenship activities, and mentoring students. The role is a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor. The department is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative teacher-scholar, who embraces the integrated approach of Arabic pedagogy, to join their departmental focus of developing linguistically proficient and culturally competent learners. Faculty members wear uniforms and adhere to military customs, but military experience among the faculty is neither required nor expected.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Arabic, Arabic Studies, or a related field (must be in hand by the start of the appointment)
- Native or near-native fluency in Arabic (MSA + a dialect)
- Native or near-native fluency in English
