Assistant Professor of American Literature
About The Position
The Department of English at Concordia College (Moorhead, Minnesota) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-eligible position in American Literature at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2027. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach literature courses at all levels of undergraduate work, as well as first-year composition courses. The teaching load is three courses per semester. We seek candidates who are also pursuing an active research agenda. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year, as well as assisting the department and interdisciplinary programs in curriculum development, revision, and evaluation. Successful candidates will aspire to be part of a diverse community that affirms an abundance of identities, experiences, and perspectives in order to imagine, examine, and implement possibilities for individual and communal thriving both inside and outside of the Department of English.
Requirements
- ABD status for a Ph.D. in English or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience teaching college-level English, including composition
- Demonstrated potential for research, scholarly, and creative activities
- Demonstrated facility with one or more of the following: African-American literature, Indigenous literature, Latinx literature, environmental literature/ecocriticism, or global literature
- Demonstrated commitment to scholarly excellence
- Willingness to serve on appropriate program, college, and university committees
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

- Training and expertise in the pedagogy of teaching writing and literature
- Demonstrated potential to contribute to the program and form interdisciplinary partnerships
- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Indigenous literature, African-American literature, Latinx literature, Global literature, Environmental literature/ecocriticism
Responsibilities
