About The Position

The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, research, and/or service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of his/her department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. Performs other duties as needed. Doctoral-prepared nurse educator to support teaching within our in-person Masters in Nursing Population Health Program and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) courses delivered in an online format.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree required.
  • Minium two years full-time teaching experience in a graduate nursing program required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching prelicensure nursing courses, current approval from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) to teach medical-surgical nursing and one additional nursing content area TBD.
  • Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in teaching and presentations.
  • Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner.
  • Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
  • Advanced Practice Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Nurse Leader (CNL), or Nurse Practitioner
