About The Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Akron, a state-assisted metropolitan university with approximately 16,000 students, invites applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the mathematics of data science and/or scientific computing. The department has a strong tradition of interdisciplinary research and offers bachelor's and master's degrees in applied mathematics as well as an accelerated 5-year BS/MS program. The department is housed in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science, which offers doctorate degrees in engineering. The successful applicant may have the opportunity to work with students in the Integrated Biosciences Doctoral Program and may also have the opportunity to participate in the DATA+ Institute, a university-wide initiative that connects students, faculty, departments, and external partners across the University of Akron.

Requirements

  • PhD in mathematics or a closely related field by the time of employment.
  • Evidence of an active research program.
  • Evidence of teaching experience.
