The Department of English and the Department of Global Cultural Studies at Montclair State University are offering a joint tenure-track position in Latinx Studies and Creative Writing at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position requires candidates to teach creative writing workshops, courses in Latin American and Latino Studies, and English courses. The candidate's expertise should focus on immigration from the Caribbean and/or Latin America, addressing concepts like bilingualism, borders, and social justice. Fluency in both English and Spanish (oral and written) is required, along with a strong record or promise of publishing academic articles, poetry, fiction, or other genres in Spanish. The successful candidate may also collaborate with other departments on cross-listed courses and lead interdisciplinary initiatives. Faculty are expected to center student success through clear course design, inclusive pedagogies, and integrating emerging disciplinary and pedagogical developments. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, student mentoring and advising, and developing/updating courses and curricula. Faculty are also expected to be productive scholars or artists whose work expands knowledge, sharing research in national/international venues. The university supports these endeavors through the Faculty Scholarship Program, providing reassigned time for scholarly agendas. Faculty members are also expected to perform service to the department, college, university, and professional communities, including participating in shared governance and academic program vitality.
