About The Position

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Science, at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor. We seek candidates working in the mathematical foundations of quantum information science, broadly construed, particularly those employing methods from analysis, probability, optimization, numerical mathematics, control, or information theory. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, quantum algorithms and simulation, quantum error correction, open quantum systems, quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and quantum tomography. In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

  • PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or closely related area
  • Legally able to accept work in the United States

  • Clear vision for developing an independent, externally funded research program in mathematics related to Quantum Information Science

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain an active, independent research program leading to high-quality scholarly publications and external funding
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses
  • Advise and mentor students, including supervision of research projects, theses, and dissertations
  • Contribute appropriate service to the Department, College, University, and broader mathematical community
