About The Position

The Department of Veterinary Pathobiology (VTPB) in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS) at Texas A&M University (TAMU) is seeking researchers in infectious disease and immunity for a full-time, 9-month tenure-track faculty position. This role is part of a cluster hire initiative for Translational Research in Infection and Immunity, with an expected start date of August 1, 2027. The position emphasizes research and scholarship (70%), teaching (20%), and service (10%). The successful candidate will be expected to build and maintain a strong, externally funded research program and engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary work. Research interests include emerging, re-emerging, and zoonotic pathogens (viral, bacterial, fungal, parasitic), as well as host immunity and immune modulation. Interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches are highly encouraged. Teaching will focus on Biomedical Sciences (BIMS) Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, with potential contributions to the DVM curriculum. The department offers a robust graduate training environment and hosts an NIH-funded T32 training program for veterinarians. Service responsibilities include contributions to the department, college, university, professional organizations, and community. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. This position is part of a multidisciplinary initiative involving multiple colleges at TAMU, addressing the grand challenge of infectious diseases impacting health, national security, food security, and economic stability. The candidate will join a community of investigators in infectious disease, immunology, biosecurity, drug discovery, and clinical policy, with access to advanced infrastructure like the Global Health Research Complex. Requirements

PhD in Microbiology, Virology, Parasitology, Immunology, or related disciplines.
Dissertation research and postdoctoral training in infection and immunity.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Candidates with both DVM and PhD are preferred but not required.
