UNIV - Assistant Professor in Implementation Science - Department of PHS
About The Position
The NCI-Designated Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) and the Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS), based within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to help grow a new Implementation Science Initiative within the HCC Cancer Prevention and Control Program. This new initiative reflects HCC and DPHS’s commitment to accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into real-world improvements in cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship outcomes. By providing centralized implementation science expertise, infrastructure, training, and strategic partnerships, the initiative will help bridge the gap between evidence-based cancer research and its adoption in clinical and community settings across South Carolina and beyond. This new position offers opportunities to contribute innovative research, and mentorship to our growing initiative, and to build collaborations with clinicians, researchers, community partners, and health systems.
Requirements
- PhD, MD, DO, DrPH, ScD or equivalent degree with training in implementation science, medicine, epidemiology, public health, informatics and data science, nursing, psychology, anthropology, behavioral science, behavioral economics, health services, health economics, communication, decision sciences, sociology, or other related fields
- Cancer-relevant and implementation science research experience
- Peer-reviewed publication experience, commensurate with career stage

- Established record of external funding, or demonstrate strong promise to obtaining funding, preferably from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), including the National Cancer Institute (NCI), or other federal agencies.
- Strong commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research.
- Track record of mentoring early-stage investigators.
- Experience contributing to academic leadership.
Responsibilities
