About The Position

The Department of Physics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the Assistant Professor level. We seek candidates whose research will complement and strengthen the University's existing experimental and theoretical programs in condensed matter and materials physics. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program. The anticipated start date for this appointment is a mutually agreed-upon date in 2027. The Department of Physics currently has 18 faculty members and offers strong undergraduate and graduate programs through to the Ph.D. level. Graduate education and research are further enhanced through participation in the Graduate Studies in Physics (GSP) program, jointly operated by the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo, as well as the Biophysics Interdepartmental Group (BIG). Our faculty members collaborate with a wide range of on-campus research facilities, including the Electrochemical Technology Centre and the Advanced Analysis Centre, as well as at major external research institutions such as the Canadian Light Source, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, and TRIUMF. Experimental and theoretical research strengths include astrophysics and gravitation, biophysics, condensed matter physics and materials physics, nanoscience, physics education research, planetary surface exploration, and nuclear and subatomic physics. Additional information about the Department is available at www.physics.uoguelph.ca.
